LEVEL 1.1 Total Beginner
→ You’ve never tried surfing before, but you are able to swim.
LEVEL 1.2 Beginner Who Has Surfed a Few Times Before
→ You’ve tried it a few times before, but you’re still stuck at the basics.
LEVEL 1.3 Advanced Beginner
→ By now, you’ve spent several days surfing and have a solid understanding of wave and board mechanics. You’re catching waves more consistently, even if you’re still mostly riding straight toward the shore.
LEVEL 2.1 Beginner Intermediate Surfer
→ At this stage, you have solid control over your paddling, can make it out to the lineup, catch unbroken waves, and turn left or right.
LEVEL 2.2 Advanced Intermediate Surfer
→ At this stage, you have strong control of your board and can confidently turn in both directions. You’re riding a shortboard or mini mal. The next step is building more speed, refining your cutback, and fine-tuning your top and bottom turns.
